Joel Laws Photography

Natureaeonic (na-ture-e-onic) Nature - The external world in its entirety + aeonic - lasting for an immeasurably long time, eternal, or relating to a long epoch = Natureaeonic. This website is a collection of some of my images captured during adventure travels.

Landscapes

There are literally millions of compositions to be found in nature. I could spend weeks at a time there exploring with my camera.

Nightscapes

There is something awe inspiring about being under the night sky full of stars. Especially the Milky Way. The views are spectacular and therapeutic!

Underground Photography

Being underground deep in a cave is a special feeling of isolation and independence. Since your life is counting on the few people you are with for safety and support, there is a unique bonding and camaraderie. The sights are like nothing you have ever seen on the surface. Sometimes the challenges both physical and emotional, are emense!

My favorite Photo

I have a difficult time choosing my favorite photo. It is a similar task to choosing my favorite song, or favorite food. It's not easy.

I find that the photo that might be my favorite today will change by next month, and that is because I tend to get attached to the most recent photos I have taken. With that said, this photo is my favorite this month...haha. By next month I hope I will have taken a new photo that I love even more!

Hi, I'm Joel!

Ever since I first held a camera, I’ve been captivated by the way a single frame can freeze a fleeting moment. Photography, for me, is more than just a hobby—it’s a way of seeing the world and experiencing beauty everwhere. Through the lens, ordinary scenes transform into stories, emotions, and memories I might otherwise forget.

I love how photography demands both patience and spontaneity. It teaches me to slow down, to notice the subtle shifts in light. When I’m wandering through nature, my camera is an extension of how I connect with the world around me.

What Photography Means To Me

Photography changed my life

Photography helps me look at the world in a different way. Because of photography, I notice shapes and patterns that nobody else seems to notice, and I want to photograph them! I seem to pick out leading lines, or naturally occurring frames in the landscape, and I often pull out my phone to take a quick snapshot.

I truly believe that photography helps me enjoy my surroundings more. I have a new appreciation for the beauty of the earth, and I love sharing that beauty with others through my photos. More than just an artistic outlet, photography has become a way for me to be present, mindful, and more deeply connected to the world around me.
